2012 Hiroshima City Naka Waste Incineration Plant Tour

At Hiroshima City International House, a tour of Hiroshima City Environment Bureau Naka Waste Incineration Plant is held every year as part of the living support activities for the international students.
This year the tour was held on October 20 (Sat).
The number of participants was small due to other events being held, but it was an extremely informative tour.
At the plant, participants first watched an explanatory video on the waste treatment process and environmental protection activities.
This was followed by a tour of the facilities, with an explanation provided by an engineer.
Participants expressed their surprise now and then as they viewed the various facilities that they would not normally be able to see.
They leaned forward to take photos and continually asked questions.
The engineer too was extremely impressed by their interest in the plant.
The students seemed satisfied with this valuable experience, commenting that they had not been interested in waste or the environment up until now and this had been a good opportunity for them to reassess their regular lifestyle.
We will continue to set up this kind of opportunity in the future.
