Let’s Say It in English-Hiroshima Seminar
This Foundation holds the "Let's Say It in English-Hiroshima Seminar", an opportunity to learn how to convey basic knowledge on the damage from the atomic bombing in English.
The General Public seminars were held on May 26 and July 21, 2013. A total of 84 members of the general public participated, including people with plans to travel overseas and those with opportunities to take in overseas visitors in home-stays.
The first half of each session was run by Craig Nevitt, an English teacher from the United States. After giving an overview in English of the damage caused by the atomic bomb, he provided an explanation of simple ways to answer in English questions commonly asked by non-Japanese people.
In the second half of the first session in May, Associate Professor Robert Jacobs of Hiroshima City University's Hiroshima Peace Institute gave a talk titled "Definition of 'Hiroshima' in the United States and Modern Nuclear Weapons Development". He spoke about the awareness of Hiroshima in the United States since the atomic bomb was dropped up until today, and the development of new, small nuclear weapons.

In the second half of the second session in July, Mr. Nevitt and Mr. Christopher Cameron, the Hiroshima City Coordinator for International Relations, took on the role of instructors, facilitating group discussions and presentations on how to answer questions about Peace Memorial Park and other famous locations in Hiroshima in English.
The High School Student seminars, for high school students planning to study abroad, were held on June 15 and 29. A total of 106 students participated.
Some seminar participants commented "The explanations were concise and easy to understand" and "It was good that we could practice making presentations in English".
