Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation

Dear Friend of Hiroshima,

I am writing to request your assistance with a new project designed to arouse public demand in the US for the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Some countries are allowed to have nuclear weapons while others are not. This double standard was among the causes of the war in Iraq and could easily lead to another catastrophe in Iran.

Knowing too well the devastating consequences of nuclear weapons, the people of Hiroshima want the people of the United States, the nuclear superpower, to understand that nuclear weapons must be abolished and never used again. To this end, the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, in cooperation with the City of Hiroshima, is planning to hold as many atomic bomb exhibitions as possible between now and the end of next year. We hope that this project will bring greater awareness among the American people about the rising nuclear peril, leading them to demand that their leaders finally and permanently abandon the gnuclear option.h

The exhibitions will feature a set of 30 posters, each of which is approximately 3ft tall by 2ft wide. The entire exhibition can be installed in a single mid-sized classroom or along a corridor. No special equipment or security is required, and we will cover the cost of sending the posters to the locations at which they will be used. In addition, we will send you a CD-ROM containing several other posters in electronic form that can be printed and used at your discretion. And, we will send a DVD with a movie about the Hiroshima bombing and several survivor testimonies.

For more information about the posters, please take a look at this website:

If you are willing to hold a forum of some sort in connection with the exhibition, we will do our best to send an A-bomb survivor (hibakusha) to attend and tell his or her A-bomb experience. If we are able to fit your event into a hibakushafs schedule, we will pay the travel and accommodation expenses arising from the visit.

We will not be able to implement this project without the help of activists throughout the US. I do hope you will be able to organize an exhibition and forum in your area, but if not, please refer us and this project to someone who would be willing and able to do so.
