This Foundation holds the Memorial Gathering for Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Victims on August 9, the day that the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, to express the condolences of Hiroshima, also hit by the atomic bomb, for those who lost their lives to the bomb in Nagasaki, and to renew our oath to achieve peace.
2015 Memorial Gathering was held in the Foyer on Floor B1 in the East Wing of the Peace Memorial Museum. Around sixty people attended, including atomic bomb survivors and visitors from Japan and overseas.
The Gathering opened with a speech by Mr. Yasuyoshi Komizo, Chairperson of this Foundation, and this was followed by live television coverage of the Nagasaki Peace Ceremony. At 11:02 am, the time that the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, participants observed a minute of silence.
This was followed by a speech by Mr. Sunao Tsuboi, Chairperson of the Board of the Hiroshima Prefectural Confederation of A-bomb Sufferers Organizations. The Gathering ended with a video of a Nagasaki atomic bomb witness testimony (witness: Mr. Kazuto Yoshida).
