In January 2015, the awards ceremony and exhibition of works for the 29^th Children's Peace Drawings Competition were held at the Former Bank of Japan Hiroshima Branch. This competition has been held since 1986, with the aim of heightening children's awareness of the importance of peace.
There were 4,078 works sent in from 123 elementary and junior high schools in Hiroshima City, and 178 works from 5 countries (Australia, India, Iran, Russia, United States), for a total of 4,256 works.
The exhibition was held from the 6^th to 14^th, with a total of 102 works on display —3 Award of Excellence works, 39 Award of Distinction winning works, and 60 Award of Merit winning works.
The awards ceremony on the 11^th was attended by 33 of those who won Excellence and Distinction Awards and their parents, and the winners received an award certificate and a commemorative plaque.
