Information from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Renewal of Peace Database
Material related to the atomic bombing and peace that are kept at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum have been accessible online in the Peace Database website>> since August 2004. This database had upgraded to a new, more user-friendly system, which has been available since March 1, 2016. There is no change to the homepage address.
With the renewal this time, there are new functions including sorting of search results, making it easy to find documents. Application procedures for the documents that users would like to access have been placed clearly to find, and the data of the documents selected can now be stored in the user's computer.
Additionally, when playing videos available on the site, such as atomic bombing testimonials, there is no need to install special software – the videos can be viewed as is.

Revision of admission fees
The basic fees for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum have been revised for the second time since the museum was opened.
Admission fees for the museum have been kept at a low price over the past 44 years. The fundamental reason for the revision of admission fees this time was to align with Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, taking account of actual running and operation costs for the museum.
Marking the 70th year since the atomic bombing, Hiroshima City has decided to enhance the project to protect, spread and communicate the truth about the atomic bombing. This was implemented from April 2016. Part of the incremental funds that will be acquired through the price revision this time will be incorporated into the A-bomb Dome Preservation Project Fund, which is the financial source used for the above project.
The new fees are adults: 200 yen, senior high school students: 100 yen, junior high school students and below: free. Groups of 30 or more adults: 160 yen per person, groups of 20 or more senior high school students: free.
Adults of 65 years or over who presents proof of age documentation can enter the museum for 100 yen.

Date changed for re-opening of refurbished East Building
The permanent exhibition room of the Peace Memorial Museum's East Building is currently closed to update the content of the displays. Visitors are only able to view the displays in the Main Building.
As there is now a need to conduct new construction work on the East Building for anti-earthquake reinforcement, the former completion date of October 2016 has now been changed to February 2017. When the East Building is re-opened, the Main Building will then be closed to conduct renovation work on the passageways and the building itself.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused during the construction work period, and ask for your understanding and support.
When the renovation work on the Main Building are complete, the whole Museum will be re-opened in August 2018.
