From 2002, this Foundation has held the Hiroshima Peace Forum in collaboration with Hiroshima City. The purpose of the Forum is to give Hiroshima's citizens an opportunity to reacquaint themselves with Hiroshima as a "starting point for peace", think about the atomic bomb and peace, and explore what kind of action should be taken in the future. The Forum was held this year once again, a total of six times on alternating Saturdays from May to July. There were 112 participants, ranging from teenagers to those in their seventies.
Following on from last year, the Forum was held in conjunction with the Hiroshima City University lecture series "Peace Studies from Hiroshima: Practical Methods", to provide an enhanced course by mutually complementing respective content. The course offered a multi-faceted approach to the atomic bomb and peace, and there were also lively group discussions amongst the participants.
Responses to the participants' questionnaire included comments such as: "This gave me the opportunity to talk with people from various generations. It was really a great experience", and "From now on I want to think more proactively about peace".
