This exhibition introduces the "Visual archives of Hiroshima atomic bombing—Photographs and films in 1945", for which the Hiroshima City government, the Chugoku Shimbun, the Asahi Shimbun, the Mainichi Newspapers, RCC Broadcasting, and NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) jointly submitted a nomination for listing in UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.
The nomination is currently under review by UNESCO.
The exhibition aims to raise public interest in the Memory of the World Register while encouraging visitors to confront the devastation caused by the atomic bombing, reflect on the emotions of the photographers who captured these scenes, and recognize the importance of abolishing nuclear weapons and preserving these materials and passing them on to future generations.
