Protect Water Pipes from the Cold
If temperatures fall below - 4 degrees Celsius (24.8 degrees Fahrenheit), your water pipes or water meter may freeze over and burst. To help prevent this, wrap a blanket or towel around the pipe/meter or cover it with cardboard. In the event that your pipes/meters freeze over, cover the frozen part with a towel and slowly pour lukewarm water over it. Do NOT use boiling water, as this may cause the pipe to burst. If your pipes burst, use the water shutoff valve inside of the meter box to stop the water, or tie a towel around the broken area as an emergency step. For repairs, please contact the Waterworks Bureau designated construction corporations.
Do NOT use boiling water but lukewarm water instead.
