Hiroshima City’s Support for those who have been Affected by the Heavy Rain Disaster

Hiroshima City provides various disaster relief programs. If you have any concerns, please contact the following ward offices, which provide counselling services:

Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 6

  • Other various events associated with August 6 will also be held around Hiroshima on this day. Please refer to Events Associated with August 6.
  • You will be able to watch a live report of this year’s Peace Memorial Ceremony at the Kokusai Kaigijo (International Conference Center Hiroshima).
  • Please wear a hat and take plenty to drink with you to prevent heat related illnesses such as heat stroke.
  • Your hand baggage will be security checked to enter the venue.

Please offer a silent prayer at the time when atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki 

Please observe a moment of silence at 8:15 am on Monday, August 6 for Hiroshima and at 11:02 am on Thursday, August 9 for Nagasaki. Please offer one minute of silent prayer for the atomic bomb victims, and for lasting world peace.

Traffic Regulations for the Peace Ceremony

Traffic controls will be enforced during the ceremony on August 6. Please follow any route changes. Buses mentioned below will be diverted between 6:30 am and 9:30 am.

  • Hiroshima Bus lines going to Yoshijima will go to Route 2 via City Hall (Shiyakusho-mae).
  • Hiroshima Bus lines going to Kusatsu via Peace Boulevard (Heiwa Odori) will go to Peace Boulevard from Kamiya-cho through Tokaichi.
  • Hiroshima Bus’s express buses departing from Inokuchi, Kusatsu-higashi or Kogo Jutaku for JR Hiroshima Station via Peace Boulevard (Heiwa Odori) will go to JR Hiroshima Station through Tokaichi and Kamiya-cho.
  • Hiroshima Bus’s express buses departing from Koi to City Hall (Shiyakusho-mae) will go to Route 2 and the Shiyakusho-mae stop through Funairi.
  • Hiroshima Dentetsu’s express buses departing from Koi to City Hall (Shiyakusho-mae), and Hiroshima Dentetsu’s express bus for University Hospital (Daigaku Byoin) will go to the Chuden-mae stop and Shiyakusho-mae stop via Tokaichi and Kamiya-cho.
  • For Chugoku JR Bus company’s Sightseeing Loop Bus “Meipuru ~ pu” (Orange Route and Green Route), the first buses from Hiroshima Station (Shinkansenguchi exit) will go to Hatchobori or Namiki-dori through Tokaichi and Tera-machi

Seeking Volunteers for the Heavy Rain Disaster Relief

Volunteer Centers are accepting volunteers to work for removing soil or cleaning up houses affected by flooding in the disaster stricken areas.

Call for Donations

In order to provide financial aid to the victims of the heavy rain disaster, Hiroshima City is asking for your donations. All proceeds will be donated to Hiroshima Prefecture and the Japan Red Cross Society to help disaster area efforts.
